• Wolf Tone Suppressor

Dobro and Bridge & Tailpiece Guitar Accessory.”Wolf Tone Suppressor” Dobro/Resophonic and other guitar players may experience "Wolf Tones" .... and will try silencing the over tones by using shoe strings…rags….or rubber grommets, placed in the area between the bridge and the tailpiece.

Definition: A wolf tone, or simply a "wolf", is produced when a played note matches the natural resonating frequency of the body of a musical instrument, producing a sustaining sympathetic artificial overtone.

This “Wolf Tone Suppressor"  (WTS),  is designed for guitars where the bridge and tailpiece are separated…such as Dobro Resophonic type guitar and other type Guitars.

This WTS is designed for guitars that have a space between the bottom of the strings and the cover plate on a Dobro or body of the guitar, located  between the bridge and tailpiece,. This space must be at least  ¼ of an inch. This allows the lower WTS suppressor bar of the WTS to be inserted under the strings, between the bridge and the tailpiece,  then the WTS upper suppressor bar placed over top of the strings...finally a knurled screw aligned and tightened to draw the lower and upper tone suppressor bars together. Once tightened in place this will mute unwanted “overtones” or “Wolf Tones”

Materials used for this WTS are hardened brass for the upper and lower bars, which has rubberize fabric applied to the surface that comes in contact with the strings....and a knurled screw to tighten the assembly...and a thin wooden veneer is applied to the top bar surface, which you can stain to match your guitar.

The WTS can be kept in place until strings need to be replaced….at that time it can be removed or just loosened during string replacement.....not sure if it will interfere with your guitar case.
